My kiddo and I were messing around and I flared my lats and she said, “Wow, Mama! It looks like you have wings!” It was the cutest because she has never heard that expression. 😊 Given her comment and that a couple of people told me recently I was looking wider, I wanted to see how things are coming along. It’s one of those things you can’t see in the mirror while you’re training, and it’s been a few months since I’ve checked progress. 👌 One of my favorite reflections of all the hard work put in - the commitment, the consistency, and the passion. For all of my sweet friends that have been praying about my graduation/law school situation, it has been resolved and I enroll in law school tomorrow!!!! For those that don’t know, about a month ago I was told there was an error 😏 with my graduation paperwork and my degree may not be processed this month, meaning I couldn’t start law school. It’s gone back and forth and I finally just gave up and gave it to God because it was breaking my heart every time we thought we figured it out and didn’t. I mean, this is my DREAM. I’ve never wanted something so badly or worked so hard for anything in my life. Thankfully, the amazing attorneys I work for stepped in at that point and renewed my faith. :) Furthermore, I also applied for all my financial aid/loans yesterday. I was concerned I wouldn’t qualify by myself since they are extremely expensive, but I also didn’t want my parents as co-signors and on the hook for that much money. My credit was approved and I was able to sign for them by myself! Let me start by saying I am OKAY. Thank the Lord! Only a couple bruises and scratches but definitely shook up as I have never been in an accident before. #scariestthingever If you know me, you know that I believe everything happens for a reason and God always looks after you. Unfortunately this morning I ignored the fact that I had an overall bad feeling about driving in the snow. And I didn't double layer my socks like I randomly felt like I should (my boots got soaked standing in the snow and my feet were freezing!) But, luckily, something compelled me to call the police outside of my car. And while I was on the phone is when the third car slid off the road and rammed into my drivers side. Granted, I got scratches from sliding out of the way when I saw the pickup coming. And I was scrunched in a ball on the icy pavement hoping itd be enough to stay safe. ‼️WHY YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION IS BACKWARDS . We (myself included, until this epiphany at approx 11:03 am EST today) often view resolutions as ways to become someone new, inadvertently sending ourselves the message that we are not enough; that we need to do + have more things to be who we want to be . But spoiler alert: We are already who we want to be. We just love gettin in our own way . When we’re on the verge of a biiiig change, we’re uncomfortable and (unknowingly) become Donkey Kong, throwing banana peels in our own path to trip us up🍌🍌. If we mess it up, we get to go back to living in our bubble where nothing unknown ever happens .
Which is why my New Years’ resolution is less about becoming someone new❌, and more about stripping away the bullshit to become more of what I already am. Because here’s the real deal: I already am who + what I want to be. And so are you. There’s just a lottta fear + insecurity in the way

As a Registered Dietitian and nutrition expert, I feel like this post is much needed 😏 After hearing literally hundreds of horror stories from people having previous “diet coaches”, I want to make people more aware of this BS. In order to do that, I have created a pie chart consisting of slices that represent reasons you MAY (not in all cases) want to consider hiring a new coach: 1. No explanation for “why”-BIG red flag. QUESTION your coach and ask-why! Don’t fall into the “trust the process” BS 2. Only form of contact is email-COMMUNICATION is KEY when it comes to successful coaching. If your coach states you can SOLELY communicate via email only-run away. You should @ least have access to their cell number if ever needed. 3. Takes >48hrs to respond to client emails-It boggles my mind when I hear people say it takes their coach almost a few DAYS to respond to their protocols. Especially during prep. Wtf are you paying them for? 4. Fats <20g/day for more than 1wk-I get this one from a lot of girls. “I can only eat 6 almonds/day” and that’s it for fats. This is asking for long term health and hormonal consequences. 5. No monitoring of fiber-fiber plays a crucial role in GI health. Your coach should at least give you some fiber recs. Do NOT neglect it. 6. Excessive cardio-When diet is on point, this is unnecessary. Especially sessions lasting >1hr multiple times a wk. 7. Cuts water-primarily discussing for prep athletes. Ask yourself-what are mostly comprised of? WATER-so why would you ever cut that out? Its okay to TAPER your water down, but not cut out-in many cases, cutting water will make you look WORSE!
